Iconography of Portland Analyzed By Malcontent Blogger

I haven't tried the pizza but the look of the street is right on target.
As someone who rides his bike fully clothed, isn't a vegan, nor is someone who plays competitive hide and seek, I have a tough time explaining to the uninitiated what Portland is all about.

I maintain that the core aesthetic is a quirky celebration of dishevelment.

A dive bar is a happening place, not because it has Pabst Blue Ribbon on tap, but because the alcoholics participate in poetry slams.

Recycling, re-purposing, rediscovering the seedy and, by collective affirmation, elevating such into unique culture -- this is the Rose City.

I like the above picture of the downtown as it has a glass-tower office building in the background and a beer billboard overlooking a grotty pizza joint.

There are certainly nicer places, images, concepts, but this is the Portland I embrace.
