Next Gen Windsurfers

The kid gets expert instruction at "The Hook" in Hood River

For those who don't live in the Soggy Northwest, windsurfing is not so much the sport of the elites, but more for fussy middle-aged men. At the famous beaches in the Columbia Gorge the popular haircut is male patterned balding, with salt-and-pepper facial hair.

Apparently all the cool kids are kiteboarding.

So when the kid said he wanted to take a windsurfing lesson, I jumped up and ran out the door, dragging the kid behind me. I packed him into a wetsuit and thrust him out into the water before he could change his mind.

The weather was perfect and the kid got some nice runs in.

The next generation will soon be proclaiming stoke.
