| Navy and Coast Guard ships come up the Columbia and then Willamette rivers to dock at the festival for a Fleet Week. The big war machine out of view behind the cement baricades was the USS Bunker Hill, a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser of the United States Navy. |

| Despite the protestors, the Navy was doing well with recruitment as well as tours of the Bunker Hill. Several hundred people were waiting in line for a tour when we passed by. |

| Some may find the protesters off-putting, but this is just part of the folksy charm of these parts. The kid took more interest in the protesters than he did in the ship. |

| I felt the food choices were lacking. Then I ordered mac and cheese with pulled pork and found it tasted pretty good. |
