This map comes from the NYT. |
I spent the majority of 2020 looking at COVID maps, learning where the outbreak was spreading most quickly.
This year I want to be more positive and will spend odd
hours looking at a vaccine map. I know the current rate of vaccination has the
US achieving herd immunity in about 10 years. I would like to think that some
magic involving a national defense authorization act could speed things up.
The other night we watched The Rachel Maddow Show, which pointed
out in 1947 New York City inoculated five million people against smallpox in
just two weeks.
The notion of us as a nation moving fast and efficiently, united in our desire to be healthy and inclusive, is a pipe dream.
I’m standing
by, waiting for some good news on this front.
